From thousands of entrants, Sandringham local business Watermaster Plumbing and Roofing has been named as the Winner of the Plumber (Large) category in the first Australian Trades Small Business Champion Awards – a prestigious and comprehensive program that celebrates the outstanding service provided by hard-working tradespeople from across the nation.
Lauded for excellence in the Plumber (Large) category of the Awards, Watermaster Plumbing and Roofing Director, Sam Minio, collected the top gong at the inaugural 2023 Australian Trades Small Business Champion Awards Gala Event on Friday 22 September 2023.
Starting in 2007 as just ‘a one man show’, this Bayside business has since grown over the years increasing team size and revenue including jumping $1m revenue in the last financial year.
Sam said his team was ‘honoured’ to receive the best plumber (large) award in the country.
‘It is especially special because it is the first award we have ever been nominated for,’ he said.

From electricians to signmakers, plumbers and landscapers, electricians, carpenters and more, the 2023 award program featured more than 45 industry categories and five individual award categories – Apprentice Champion, Champion Tradie, Small Business Champion Trades Entrepreneur, Young Small Business Champion Trades Entrepreneur and Australian Small Business Champion Trade Leader.
‘The importance of the trades sector in this country has never been more important, especially during the last few years with a challenging economic climate and increasing uncertainty in the building and construction sector,’ says Steve Loe, Awards Founder and Managing Director of Precedent Productions, which coordinates the Australian Trades Small Business Champion Awards.
